La théorie du choix rationnel, en anglais « Rational Choice » (prononciation: 'ræʃənl tʃɔɪs) ou "décision rationnelle" est un terme générique utilisé pour désigner différentes théories de l'action développées en économie notamment (où elles constituent un paradigme dominant) et en sociologie
(où elles sont en concurrence avec d'autres paradigmes). De manière
générale ces théories attribuent aux agents un comportement rationnel
qui en raison d'un certain nombre de préférences montrent un
comportement visant le plus grand profit ou le moindre mal.
